Not A Happy `Wadger'

You know going to Manitouwadge use to be fun...People all over the place, friends going out for coffee, and the highlight of the trip...getting wasted at the bar. Wow, what a reality check!!! First of all, an eight hour trip alone is not fun...thank you Sirius Satellite Radio for keeping me awake. If you ever drive to Manitouwadge when the sun starts going down make sure you have very good sunglasses and a lot of luck. Why do I say this...well with sightings of moose and bears along the way and the sun right in your line of sight, there is no way you could see them rush out on the road let alone see the oncoming traffic. Thank you Lord! Well I was lucky, I did get to see only one animal a bear and it was on hwy 614.

Well, I finally got into Manitouwadge and as I was just passing the Highschool, Paulo called and told me to stop at the Coffee Shop...my first of many coffee dates with my dad. Paulo had been there since the previous Saturday so I was glad to catch him before he left. Seeing the parents was great, got to hang out with my dad and he is doing excellent considering the stroke last September.

Walking around town was like walking through a Ghost Town...when you walk past a park bench and the tumbleweeds are enjoying a break from roaming the streets, you know something is not right. What the @#$% is wrong with this place...there are people around, I see the curtains moving every once and awhile...Is there something I don't know about? Have I been poisoned with radiation by some Manitouwadge nuclear test gone wrong??? Guess that explains why I glow in the dark now! Friday night I hit the bar scene...you know being the only one in the bar kind of sucks, I could only line dance by myself for so long, not to mention breakdance LOL!!!

Growing up in this town was awesome...football games, soccer, baseball, swimming, anything we wanted to do. I guess times they are a changing. GET OUT PEOPLES>>>YOU ONLY HAVE ONE LIFE TO LIVE>>>ENJOY IT!!!

Hopefully I could make it to the make-shift Reunion this August and maybe forget about this past experience.

NOT A HAPPY CAMPER!

Nuno

  2. grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.... just left a comment twice. my 3rd attemept and it will be short this time as I am sick of re-typing (keeps telling me I "do not own that identity" when I try to post as wordpress username *grr*.

    ANYWAYS
that photo is sick! I LOVE IT =- TOOO AWESOME, you need to enter it into a photo contest somewhere!

Hope your trips up this summer cheered you up from that manitouwadge gloom you were feeling in this post. If not, when you come to pick up the little ones you should bring them up the mountain. kids always get a kick out of it (even more so if there are ppl down on warbler to yell at lol). If you want company, call me and the kids, dog and I will join your picnic (dog keeps bears away).

    take care!
