Happy 11th Birthday Emma

It was my baby girls 11th Birthday today. I was not in town nor was I able to get to a computer to post her Birthday. We were in Manitouwadge that weekend to bring my parents back. It was a quiet birthday for Emma since all her friends were here in Sudbury. But she was sure surprised when we got her a Laptop…and No we didn’t spend a fortune on it. We got her one of those mini laptops, which has windows xp on it, 8 gig hard drive, built in mic and web cam and very portable…it’s not a powerful computer but it is perfect for an 11 year old…oh ya…it’s pink LOL! We also got her set up on Windows Messenger…no we are not crazy parents…we have her set up on Windows Family Safety so we could spy on her…she has to come to us to add friends and we could see all her web activities…such a big girl!
Love you Emma

Useless Fact #4

The Canadian holiday Boxing Day got its name from the custom of giving. Servants were given boxes which had money hidden inside them from their employers. The servants would have to break the box into pieces to get the money.

Family

Well this past weekend I had an awesome time. My whole family was together again since August, when Paulo had his wedding. Erin came down with him and we just hung around talking, John planning his next trip and me trying to get Paulo's Wedding Video done...well that didn't happen since Nero don't like the file format my digital video camera spits out...but it well get done Paulo...I promise!!! On Sunday I brought my dad to see his last novice hockey game that Diego plays in. Diego had another awesome game and made my dad very proud. This Friday I will be bringing my parents back to Manitouwadge. They have been gone from there since September when my dad had his stroke. I think my dad is going to enjoy it more there since that is where all his friends are and it his home plus I think his recovery will be a lot better there. Now if you don't already know I play Squash on Thursdays. It is a ladder type format where you play 5 weeks and top 2 move up the ladder and bottom 2 drop. Well I've been playing since October and started at the very bottom of the ladder Group E. Well I did it, I am now in group B which is extremely hard to stay in and even harder to move up to group A...My first game will be this Thursday and I know I will have troubles...since some from group A have dropped down and the others that are staying around from last session will still be there and deservingly so...so wish me luck!!!

Well that's all for now Ciao!

Classic Video of the Week

Sheriff - 'When I'm With You'

Ever get that feeling of nostalgia and where you sit back and remember all the old times and yes there were a lot of older tunes that could bring back memories but if you really want to Zen out then this would probably be a good song to bring it all back.

Fact: Canadian band

"When I'm with You" was originally released as the third single off Sheriff's debut album. It entered the Hot 100 on May 14, 1983, and peaked at number sixty-one four weeks later. Disappointed by the lack of success, the band broke up.
In 1988, a disc jockey in Las Vegas began playing the song, and other stations followed. This encouraged Capitol Records to re-release the song as a single. On February 4, 1989, "When I'm with You" hit number one in the United States.
By that time keyboardist Arnald Lanni and bassist Wolf Hassell had formed a duo named "Frozen Ghost" with the hit song "Dream Come True", and declined to re-form the group. Sheriff's lead vocalist Freddy Curci and guitarist Steve DeMarchi subsequently formed the band "Alias" and reached the top of the charts again the following year with the similar number-two hit "More Than Words Can Say".

Movie Review - 'Slumdog Millionaire'

Plot: A Mumbai teen who grew up in the slums, becomes a contestant on the Indian version of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" He is arrested under suspicion of cheating, and while being interrogated, events from his life history are shown which explain why he knows the answers.

Review: Out of all the movies I watched this year and last that are considered for the Oscar nod of BEST PICTURE, I would say this one will win for sure. It's got everything you need that makes a complete package...love story, violence, action and not to mention game show which ties the whole story together. The acting was awesome...unlike some films I watched recently...and everything made sense...from children, to teen, to adult hood, and you feel for the main characters, even though one is a bad ass but you'll see why. Well Done!!!

Classic Video of the Week

Whitesnake – “Still of the Night” (1987)

Founded by former lead singer of Deep Purple David Coverdale, Whitesnake hit the scene in the late 70’s but it was their 1987 album that really made them big especially in North America. This was a great album with more than one hit like “Here I go Again”, “Is this Love”, “Crying in the Rain” and the one I picked for Classic Video of the Week – “Still of the Night”. Such great videos…and on at least 3 of the videos the appearance of the ultra hot Tawny Kitaen in her prime…Damn those were hot videos. She later married David Coverdale in 1989 then divorced him in 1991…then became a has-been. Well forget about her, enjoy the Video.

Hockey Tournament

Well this weekend was a long and tiring one for Diego. They played 5 games since Thursday. It was probably the best games they ever played and they came out of it in second place. Diego played his best game during the last game that was deserving of a game MVP. I’m proud of how far he has come along WTG Diego!!!
