Your Safe!!!

Well it's over...this has probably been the worst feeling ever. In the beginning of March, my employer announced that over 900 staff were to be permanently laid off and over 200 of that were in the Sudbury and 65 of those 200+ were unionized staff, which I am part of. Well everyone was laid off in the beginning of March except the 65...reason being is negotiations between the union and the "Company" but nothing would be settled till the end of the month. There is nothing worse than having a noose tied around you neck with the trap door rattling under you feet the whole time...it's a little demoralizing if you ask me. Well today was the big day...funny thing is people that didn't even work at the "Company" knew it was today except for us employees...WTF...I think our union should have at least warned us about today. Anyhow, the boss man came around to the unfortunates at work, called them into his office and no more than 10 mins later the co-workers were escorted off the property...damn it was nerve wracking, watching a close buddy have that done to them...and no one knew who was next. About an hour later, boss man comes to my cubicle...this is it I thought...and tells me I was not affected by the lay offs and that no one else was going to be let go. All in all there were only 3 excellent co-workers in my department laid off and the rest of the staff including myself were SAFE!!! (for now)

Good Luck Gentlemen, it was sad to see you go and who knows, maybe someday we could work together again.

Your Brother Nuno

Useless Fact #6

When we visit toilets, bathrooms, hotel rooms, changing rooms, etc., how many of you know for sure that the seemingly ordinary mirror hanging on the wall is a real mirror, or actually a two-way mirror?? Just conduct this simple test: Place the tip of your fingernail against the reflective surface and if there is a GAP between your fingernail and the image of the nail, then it is a GENUINE mirror. However, if your fingernail DIRECTLY TOUCHES the image of your nail, then BEWARE, for it is a two-way mirror.

Case of the Missing Boot

It all started with Olivia knocking on the door saying Emma was stuck in the snow...we didn't think anything of it so LeeAnne went out to go see what was going on. A couple of minutes later Diego comes knocking at the door wanting to get gloves and yelling Mommy is stuck in the snow, well now I had to go see this...with the trusty camera as well. When I get up to the snow hill I see Emma without a boot...where's your boot (see pic above) I ask her and she says it's lost in the snow...ok so where is Mommy??? And her reply was stuck on the other side of the hill. So I go over the top and this is what I see...

Yes LeeAnne stuck up to her knees...there was another picture but it's not that appropriate to show...the worst part was we didn't know where the boot was. So with the direction of Emma, we kind of located the hole where the boot was. After freezing my hand digging, we found the boot. Now the hard part...getting to the other side of the hill...It was easy for me since I had my monster boots on but LeeAnne had her tiny boots on so she was sinking into the snow with every step. I finally convinced her to follow my tracks...since I packed down the snow...and we climbed down to safety LOL!!! It was so funny...Love you LeeAnne!!!

Bryan Adams Concert

Last weekend LeeAnne and I went to go see Bryan Adams in concert.  I got to say that it was amazing.  He played all his hits which was all of them.  Not only was it an awesome concert, but we were only 5 rows away from stage.  There was a funny time during the concert when he brought an audience member up to sing a duet with him..."When Your Gone"... all I have to say is that she knew the words LOL!!!  Great times.  Check out the Photo Album of the concert.

Division "C" Champions

Onaping Falls Huskies

Diego’s team won the Division “C” championship this past weekend. It was a miracle on ice so to speak. During the regular season they were 2 and 18…with the 2 wins coming in the last 3 games of the season. So they were going into the Playoffs as huge underdogs. You could tell that they were finally starting to click together when they won the 2 games and held their own when they played the first place team in the final game of the regular season…they lost of coarse but the spark was still there. Their first game on Friday was a lopsided 6-1 victory with the Huskies coming out on top…all the parents were ecstatic.

Their next game on Saturday was even more astonishing…it was a 7:30am game…hard fought. They won that game too 3-0…we couldn’t believe it. The third game which was only played three hours later was a 4-0 WIN!!! Damn the kids were on fire. Sunday at Noon was the toughest game yet. The game ended in a 3-3 tie. And we were in the finals but the problem was that the team we tied 3-3 was also in the finals with us. The First period was a nail biting experience…it ended 1-1…we all thought it was going to be a battle to the end. The Second period was not as scary though…we came out of there with a 3-1 lead going into the third. Could the kids pull it off after a season of nothing but defeat after defeat…well as the title says we could…3-1 with one minute left and the other team pulled their goalie…it was in our zone the whole minute and wham puck gets out and breakaway…goal…Champions!!!
It was a very emotional moment watching the kids crash their goalie at the buzzer…line up and receive their individual trophies and watch the kids parade around the ice with their team trophy. What a game, what a playoff. Every kid stepped up and became the team we all thought they were.

Congratulations Huskies

Cutting Crew – 'I Just Died In Your Arms'

OK, this one brings me back to Grade 7, when I was in Judo and heard it for the first time from a person I knew who brought the track to Judo class. I enjoyed this tune for a long time and it fit the era perfectly. I’m sure most of you OLD peoples will remember this tune and I’m sure it will bring back a lot of old memories.

Enjoy

Diego team played this weekend and guess what? They won finally…2 games in a row. The season has been full of ups and downs but finally after 20 or so games they won. Diego had 2 assists and is getting better every game. Next weekend they will be going into the playoffs with heads held up high and hopefully pull away with an upset to win their division…GO DIEGO GO!!!
